I did a fair amount of research on quite a few of them , and I personally felt better about this seller than others because of the fact that they at least made their own app for the camera. I ordered this microscope in order to view the close up details of a coin husband surprised my daughter and I and went ahead and ordered this one.using a magnifying glass.ssl-images-amazon.The hardware is similar if not the same as the unit I purchased a year ago.Find some scrap pieces and build your own if you can.Forget about their stand and spend the money to upgrade, or use an old junky microscope, easily found for under a buck at garage sales this time of year, remove the viewer and replace it with this camera and it’s value then becomes apparent. The picture is way better when you remove the plastic cover, As I figured out on my own.I did want to correct the comments that I’ve been seeing about the zoom.I would have saved some time. The magnification is great! It worked fine.BIG FYI it comes focused for up close zooming but to adjust remove the plastic flash diffuser and then zoom so that you see the lense point out. This company apparently unaware that most PC’s and Laptops do not come with optical drives these days. The real ones, used in medicine, cost upwards of $300, so…TIPS:1.A little tip to those who do get one: The clear plastic ring is removable, it just pulls right off, allowing the lens to get close enough to the target without touching or getting in the way of tools.I ordered it with the purpose of checking for ripeness of my cannabis plant for a perfect harvest, and I have no doubt that it will work just great then the time comes.

The supplied software offers resolutions as high as 6324 x 4742 pixels, which is really high. The biggest drawback of this microscope compared to competitors is that it already starts at a 40x magnification. The cord was defected.Even if it doesn’t, the cable to your computer or phone will wiggle the scope around.I have a brand new 64 bit HP Pavillion that works beautifully.Great quality from the microscope, zoom works great, light is more than adequate. If the manual had the detailed instructions as the very first section would help, and then walk the installation through step by step. This will only work nicely for looking at things super up close.Company tried to fix by software and amateur troubleshooting but it was the device.I’m not sure I believe that this actually magnifies by 1000X, but it can resolve some quite small features. After some time and playing with the scope and a couple different apps I managed to get it to work on my older device..They have made some improvements to the product and offered to send me another one for free to try out.Yes I did remove lens cover and adjusted focus but it just could not produce a usable image I mainly bought this and the separate vertical stand to inspect my record stylus which led me to realize my tacky gel cleaner was actually not cleaning and was potentially damaging my expensive record stylus! I’m sure I’ll find some other uses for it, but for me, it’s already earned its cost.Apps seem to tell its plugged in but cannot seem to get a picture. The reason I am only giving it 3-stars is because of the bad USB connection – I have received two of these so far and both have exactly the same problem – the USB loses connection with even the slightest movement of the cord.It works great with my Samsung S9+.First off, I was amazed at the what this kit could do for a VGA camera 640 x 480, but unfortunately I couldn’t deal with the stand. The software was loaded on a a 2-3″ CD and needed to be unzipped to see what you had.

I wanted to use this with micro soldering objects. The controls are simple enough.inf files which is too much BS for my mental health.I bought it to help with hand soldering SMD components, and have even managed to solder some 0201 with it.I would give it 3.My house runs exclusively on Linux , and this Microscope works with VLC out of the box.The camera feels good, and has a nice smooth rubber coating.NOT magnification.I went ahead and took a chance though and am very impressed by it so far.The endoscope is functional but let it be known that this is a very cheaply made tool, while the camera is OK the lens is plastic that is able to be removed and cleaned which is exactly what I have done. Not certain how much magnification is achieved but with some practice one gets pretty good magnification.Great quality, ability to zoom in and out great picture quality! I spend so much time looking at everything under the microscope!I just plugged it into my MacBook usb and opened photo booth and it worked, no software install needed. Not sure if it’s just my unit, but from what I measured, the FOV is only about 1.After several attempts to update drivers and software… it went into the trash as $20 for a couple hours entertainment.I installed two different versions of the software and the first one I installed ended up being the one that finally worked.and played with this scope for a couple of days. For one, realize that this is VGA resolution not HD like you’re probably used to.Installed microscope on Windows 10 laptop and desktop.Plus it includes combination USB-A / Micro USB cable, USB-C adapter and calibration tool.No drivers or software needed.
