I’m using it for hot air SMD board assembly; and post assembly inspection.–Nice clear images and good depth of field. With that said, I will have to knock some stars off because of two issues I had.I was really hoping to buy one with a camera add-on but the price difference helped me settle on this one and I couldn’t be happier. There should be assembly instructions in the box.The boom arm works great allowing it to extend out far enough so you can see your work.Very happy.Don’t think this was a refurbished item.It has plenty of working room underneath along the goose neck LED light that can be set to get light wherever you need it.The 20x eyepieces are far too narrow a field of view to be practical for anything aside from sheer magnification, they dont make great use for board work where you need to see what you are doing. The misalignment was about 1 mm front to back at the focal plane. My favorite part is how much space I get between the object and the microscope, it surely won’t get in the way.I was to spend about $500 on a slightly fancier Amscope but noticed this very inexpensive puppy – with its huge working distance – and the reviews convinced me to give it a shot.I do agree with some of the reviews that the 20x do not work well with micro soldering but its ok because the 10x are perfect enough.I knew what the other reviewers had said, but even so, I was surprised at just how heavy the box was when it was delivered.) Build quality: The microscope is sturdy and everything seems well built.Outstanding tool to assist taking out splinters, determining the extent of damage to small parts, determining why small connectors fail, rekeying locks, reading text manufactures obviously purposefully make so small that they must assume no one is able to read it and similar tasks, especially for those over age 50.It falls over it you breathe on it.Nice Styrofoam packing for safe shipping .[review3] This is a quality product.
It is well designed and perfect for my purposes for SMD soldering, rework, and repair. I tried before to use microscopes , but this one really great , high quality , best performance It is definitely heavy duty, but clumsy. The 20X lens is nice for inspections but not really practical for anything else. The working distance is superb for the beginner as it allows you to have more room to move around.I needed something for home and this one had great reviews. This allows for easy work on SMD components and 10x zooms seems to be about the optimal spot. The quality of the image, the sturdiness, and the lighting is just very versatile and strong. The best part by far is that it is high up on a boom, so you have space to work under it.Specifically for hand soldering or inspection of reflow or hot air rework attempts.I love the working space from the table to the lens.I use the 10X to solder and repair surface mount devices and it does a good job for that kind of work. I use this thing on almost a daily basis for cell phone repair it is not top of the line but for charging ports and other small soldering jobs it gets the job done at a reasonable price I don’t do much micro soldering so this works great for me.I’ve already used it on several circuit board fixes that involved flying wires to small pins on surface mount parts.Amazon prime shipped it from CA to FL overnight for free prime shipping even though it was expected in 3 days. The optics are crystal clear, and it’s easy to use.I didn’t experience any of the mechanical or quality issues others had listed relative to optics/assembly, the exception being a small screw that had come out and was laying in the carton with the scope.I didn’t seem much difference between the 10x and 20x eyepieces.
I’ve used a ton of rework scopes over the years and this, although not a high end one, is amazing for the price and pefect for the home work shop.I tried entering all of the numbers that were on the shipping box without luck.It is relatively small, has good optical quality and is low cost.I use for circuit board repair and I wish I would have bought it sooner.I use for engraving, stone setting and intricate carving and am very happy it.The 10x setting is adequate for 99% of what I do.I don’t think I’ll ever use the 20x, but the 10x are perfect for what I need this for (hand-soldering / repairing tiny SMD components, e.The higher magnification lenses have been good for material inspection too.I do engraving and stone setting and this works fine.Have it on my bench and use it daily.I use it to work on prong prep, setting stones in into rings, and general work on a piece of jewelry. You’d think this thing was made in Germany.I use it for electronic work.Very clear and picks up flaws and inclusions.I can arrange this setup no matter where I place it, on the edge of my desk or by the kitchen counter. The scope seems to work fine but I cannot understand why you need a password to get the user manual.
