I did not want to buy something for an absolute beginner, as I myself have some experience and appreciate a decent scope.I’m glad I did, this is a great microscope especially for the price.Superb magnification, sturdy, and the battery or plug-in option is perfect for portability to work tables and lab stations. You cannot move the slide down enough to view the upper half. But this one came with a big dark speck lodged in the 4x objective lens, which I was not about to try to repair. I am so disappointed.I use some high-end microscopes in my work and didn’t expect much for this “toy”.Granted, it’s an ergonomically compact microscope so that’s probably a trade-off that had be to made.), and we’ve had 15 months of great service from this scope.I am used to using high quality Nikon Binocular oil compound microscopes which start around a thousand a piece. There was no glass slides so you need to prepare that.Easy to use. While I wanted her to have a nice microscope I also knew we did not need the capabilities of a professional scope at home.
